G-Energy oils to be the first in Russia to get the latest license of American Petroleum Institute (API)
Gazpromneft-Lubricants, the operator of Gazprom Neft's oil business, has become the first Russian company to get the American Petroleum Institute (API) – API SN Plus* for G-Energy FE DX1 5W-30 product. This engine oil is intended for use in gasoline engines with turbo charging and direct fuel injection.
The API SN Plus specification feature is tightening of the lubricant requirements to prevent LSPI** (premature ignition of the fuel-air mixture at low speeds) that has become a problem of modern turbocharged high-performance engines due to the threat of its destruction and premature failure.
G-Energy FE DX1 5W-30 engine oil has been successfully tested for compliance with the license requirements including the latest Sequence IX engine test for premature ignition of the fuel-air mixture in the cylinder, developed by Ford engineers. The tests, carried out in one of the largest research centers in USA, showed the full product compliance with API requirements for SN Plus level engine oils.
*API SN Plus – the newest standard, developed on the basis of API SN specification to eliminate the LSPI. To obtain it, it is necessary to use special additives considering the specific requirements of turbocharged engines with direct fuel injection. The license is issued starting from May 1, 2018.
** LSPI (Low Speed Pre-Ignition) – premature ignition of the fuel-air mixture in the engine cylinders at low speeds, at which the air-fuel mixture spontaneously ignites before the spark is supplied.
